Tax Planning – An Overview
Tax Planning is the use of UK tax law to minimize UK tax liabilities for taxpayers. It is sometimes, but incorrectly, known as ‘tax avoidance’ and must be distinguished from ‘tax evasion’. Simply put, the former is legal and the latter is not.
Tax planning might be considered as getting the best possible deal available within the law. It is highly specialized area mainly practiced by a small number of specialised firms of tax consultants and members of the bar in the UK.
What planning can achieve
The tax consultants have a 100% success rate having saved millions of pounds with hundreds of cases implemented over the past 5 years.
We offer a pathway to Stamp Duty Mitigation strategies that usually require no vendor involvement. Strategies are designed for specific client groups, including:
• Individuals
• Married couples
• Co-habiting couples
• Property developers
• Partnerships
• Companies
• Pension schemes
Most planning implementations need to take place pre exchange but may be implemented post exchange if the re-issue of contracts is not problematic.
Testimonials are available on request.
What is SDLT and how is it assessed?
Stamp Duty Land Tax was introduced in December 2003 and replaces the old stamp duty on purchases of flats, houses and other land and buildings. It is a percentage paid on the purchase of a home, non-residential property or land, graded into bands, which start at £125,000.

Stamp Duty Solutions (SDS) work with interested parties falling within the last band. Below is a typical example of the costs of savings based on a purchase price of £750,000 on a residential property by a married couple:
• Purchase price - £750,000
• SDLT at 4% - £30,000
• Total fees payable by client using SDLT mitigation strategy are 1.5% of purchase price - £11,250 Inc VAT
• Fees become payable in full only when your Stamp Duty Mitigation is successful.
• Total savings to client £18,750
